AUTHOR: Drew Bryden DATE: 10/26/2003 07:51:19 AM ----- BODY: Okay, so it has been a long time since I posted here. Perhaps I should change the name to Sunday Morning Blog in Season! The summer is a time to be outdoors enjoying the weather, so that is where I have been. That, and maybe I fell a little out of practice at getting in front of the computer to type. Regardless, I am back and that is all that matters.

Summer faded into winter without any warning here on Cape Cod. It would be nice to have a gradual change... maybe a fall season to ease into this winter thing. Suddenly waking up one October morning to find ice in the bird bath is not my idea of a gentle transition. We have already had a week of such mornings with record low temperatures for early to mid October. Today I arose early (tell my cats about falling back to eastern standard time) to find the thermometer at fifty degrees at 5:00 a.m.. Rollercoaster temperatures, rain one day, sun the next and wind one day, calm the next. I'll take the fifty degree start though. I am not quite ready for bundled up commutes.

I just put the finishing touches on my winter ride. The old Raleigh mountain bike just got a new rear rack, new fenders, Specialized Ground Control tires, and a tune up. This bike will probably do most of my foul weather duty for the winter months. It sounds so ominous just saying it: "winter months." I had almost forgotten what a harsh winter was prior to last winter's brutal cold. Here is one vote for a milder winter this year. No whining here, but you won't catch me celebrating the onslaught of the freezing months ahead. Time to bust out the long johns... --------
