Summer slipping away

I’m not going to say I was happy to get back to the bicycle commute today. After spending a week climbing out of a tent into the early dawn air, rising with my bike out of a bulkhead to pedal exhaust filled streets isn’t so appealing. Let’s see: hike Appalachian Trail, or go to work… which would you pick? I’d pick the AT thank you very much! So, it was not with enthusiasm that I greeted my first day back from vacation, but I dealt with it. I couldn’t have driven four and a half miles to work after hiking twice that distance on each day’s trek last week. Starting the day cycling always gets the blood flowing and boosts my mood.

The ride in: Partly cloudy, in the mid fifties and a gusty wind.

Comments: I rode the Volpe today. After work I enjoyed a run in the cool, fall-like air. I don’t remember it getting dark this early before I went on vacation last week. Summer is slipping away.

The ride home: Sunny, in the low sixties and breezy.

Number of fellow cyclists seen on both trips: 0
