It has been a couple of weeks since my return from Oregon, and the trip is now a distant memory. Amazing how quickly the relaxed, refreshed, just-vacationed feel wears off. Sucked right back into the rat race, chewed up and spit back out again...
Happily, I did return from my trip with a renewed interest in cycling (not that it had ever really waned). Harsh winters do make me less apt to take exercise outdoors or commute by my bicycles. Someday I hope that will not be the case. I hope to toughen up and use modern outdoor apparel to my advantage. The return of Spring has gotten me back in the saddle in route to work most mornings. I have decided that I will log the commutes as a way to get back into the swing of posting here.
The ride in:
Temps hovering below fifty with fresh puddles lining the roads.
Comments:
I brought out the old Raleigh mountain bike for the commute today, as it was newly tuned and upgraded. New Michelin Trans World City Tires and wide Planet Bike, Freddy Fenders worked very well. My new bicycle tools arrived from United Bicycle Tool Supply this week and the work bench is now well stocked. The recent Introduction to Bicycle Maintenance course came in handy getting the rides back in shape.
A great ride today, but I should have worn the windbreaker on the homebound trip... a little chilly.
The ride home:
Temps in the upper fifties with bright sunshine and a cool breeze.
Number of fellow cyclists seen on both trips: 1
